Blue Foot with Cigarette | Ceramics

To create this specific ceramic piece,  Meghan Mason shaped the form using Laguna 55, a durable, buff-colored stoneware clay body ideal for structural strength. Once the piece was formed, she decorated the surface by applying a raw cobalt oxide wash to paint deep royal blue designs directly onto the clay. The decorated piece was then coated with "Kitten Clear", a reliable community-favorite transparent glaze recipe designed to melt into a smooth, glossy topcoat that protects the artwork beneath. Finally, the pottery was loaded into the kiln and fired using a specific studio program to Cone 6 (approximately 2200°F), allowing the stoneware clay to vitrify and become fully non-porous while fusing the glaze into a food-safe finish.
